I had the priviledge and pleasure of attending another Slow Food event yesterday. This time it was the inaugural meeting of Slow Food Mayo.
The meeting was held in Lisloughrey Lodge, Cong, Co. Mayo and showcased some of the finest food and producers to hail from the fine County of Mayo!
Seán Kelly from Kelly's Artisan Butcher's was there with his black pudding, which had been transformed by Lisloughrey Chefs into black pudding and chocolate balls deep-fried in breadcrumbs - Oh my, they were good - Seán informed me that it had taken him 45 years to become an overnight success!
There was ice cream with Achill Island, Salan Mara Acla Sea Salt sprinkled on top; Old Russet Cheese from Carrowholly Cheese Co was transformed into cheesy savory biscuits, served hot out of the Lisloughrey ovens; Nádúrtha Organic Pasta; Sea Sky Shore Flavoured Vinegars; Westport Grove Jam's and Nougat, Cuinneog Country Butter and Butter Milk….Tasty treats galore and more!
